“Many of our fellow citizens hope that your presidency will mark a just end to Russia's global threat, armed aggression, and state-sponsored terrorism that is real now, not only for Ukraine but for the rest of the democratic world.”
With this wish, the Council of Ukrainian Christian Churches of Washington State congratulated Donald Trump on his election as President of the United States. The inaugural ceremony occurred at the U.S. Capitol on January 20, 2025.
Leaders of Ukrainian churches in Washington State expressed their belief that Donald Trump's accession to the presidency has raised many expectations among United States citizens and residents. These expectations are not only about economic growth within our beloved country, protecting its borders, freedom of expression of conservative views, and raising children as good citizens based on Christian faith and other universal values. Religious leaders emphasized the importance of bringing to justice all perpetrators of international crimes committed by Russia in Ukraine.
“We believe that you can not only stop the war and protect democracy in Ukraine, but also bring Russia's leadership to justice for numerous war crimes, genocide of Ukrainians, and international crimes against humanity.”
For their part, the churches in Washington State continue to care for the families of Ukrainians who have fled to the United States from the war in Ukraine. For them, the government's United for Ukraine (U4U) and Temporary Protective Status (TPS) programs remain critically important as a way to stay in the United States legally, given the ongoing genocide of Ukrainians that Russia continues to perpetrate through its daily bombardment of civilian population in Ukraine with missiles and explosive drones.
Ukrainian religious leaders assured President Trump that churches in Washington State pray that his presidency will be successful in all good intentions and for God's wisdom in making vital state decisions.
As reported, on October 18, 19, and 20, 2024, Ukrainian churches in Washington State held inter-church services, where leaders and believers of various Christian denominations prayed together for God's blessing on the United States and for strengthening the U.S.-Ukraine partnership for peace and Ukraine's victory.
